The Laramie Fire Department responds to all hazardous material
incidents within Fire District #1 and most of Albany County.
We operate at a Hazmat Technician level out of a mobile command
station. The Fire Department maintains a specialized response
trailer that carries most necessary equipment for a hazardous
material incident.
Child
Car Seat Program
Automobile crashes are the number one causes of injury and
death to children in the nation. In 1997, the Laramie Fire
Department began participating in a Child Car Seat Program
through funds granted by a community Well Aware Committee
as well as the Wyoming Department of Transportation. Since
that time funding has continued through grants, donations,
and fund raisers. The Fire Department purchased an 18' enclosed
trailer through a grant from the State of Wyoming to be used
specifically for the child car seat program.
The Fire Department has checked over 2,500 child car seats
in Albany County. Thirty-two firefighters have received an
8-hour training course and 15 are nationally certified as
Child Car Seat Technicians. Two firefighters, Jim Hoflund,
and Matt Stroot have received Technician Instructor certification.
