The Solid Waste Division is reinstating a program to collect many hazardous wastes from the community. In past years, an independent volunteer group had provided bi-annual collections of these wastes, but the group found it difficult to keep a consistent program in operation. Collection days will be held in the spring and the fall. Materials collected this first year will be latex and oil-based paint, automotive and ni-cad/lithium batteries. Pesticides and herbicides will not be collected at this time, due to the great expense of disposal.
