Utility Division | Laramie Water Management | Water | Water Outreach

City Services : Water & Utilities : Water Outreach : EAC

The Environmental Advisory Committee (EAC) is made of seven volunteers representing the City of Laramie and Albany  County.  The EAC investigates and analyzes environmental issues.

The focus of the EAC for the past decade has been development of an aquifer protection plan for the Casper Aquifer.  The Casper supplies over half of the water to the City of Laramie, and all of the water for many Albany County residents.  This aquifer is susceptible to pollution because it is highly fractured and faulted, has extensive areas of exposed sandstone, and has a recharge area in proximity to points of withdrawal.

While the EAC continues to consider the aquifer, current projects include development of a stormwater monitoring plan for the City of Laramie, be available to lend assistance in review of the city's comprehensive plan, and develop watershed education programs for the city and Albany County.  The EAC also continues to review draft ordinances that affect our environment.
